Submission FAQs
Are there any costs involved with a submission?
No, Anomalous Transmissions will never ask it’s contributors for money.
Do I get paid for my work?
A little bit. We currently split the revenue evenly among contributors, with one additional share coming to Anomalous Transmissions for the editing and publishing work. This may change in the future, but it’s how we are handling these first volumes.
Do I maintain the copyrights to my work?
Yes! Writers maintain full copyright of their stories! We will ask you to sign a release allowing us to reproduce your work for this project, for legal purposes.
Do I have to pay for copies of the book?
No! All the contributors receive digital copies of the entire book, along with 3 physical copies on us. We can arrange for additional copies at an authors rate upon request.
Do I need to have been published before?
No! Anomalous Transmissions is committed to working with emerging queer writers. You’ll have an opportunity to work with our editor to polish your story before publication.
How many stories do you select for each collection?
Our current maximum is 10 contributors per collection. If we have enough submissions, we will consider moving up the timeline on a subsequent volume.
Am I expected to do any promotional work for the collection I’m in?
No, but it definitely helps get everyone’s voices out there!
Do you have to be trans, non-binary, or gender diverse to contribute?
Yup! A major goal of our short story collections is to highlight the voices of marginalized gender identities.
I see Horror and SciFi… are you planning on doing any other genres?
Yes, plans are in the works to expand with pulp adventure, fantasy, and romance, but we’re a small team and can only work so fast!
